These trips are ideal for experienced paragliding pilots wanting to paraglide in Grindelwald, Switzerland, in a safe and fun way, and that want to experience this adventure with a small trusted group. I'm looking to take only a handful of pilots I can trust will have fun and enjoy the beauty of Switzerland. Our goal won't be to break XC records, but to enjoy local flying from some of the hallmark launches to Interlaken. If the weather doesn't cooperate, we'll some some limited hikes in the iconic places this area offers.

• Pre-trip online briefing: pilot/wing requirements for flying in Switzerland airspace, waypoints, introduction to geography, XC routes, known landing areas, prohibited landing areas, hazards, safety recommendations, instrumentation for live tracking, insurance needs, etc.
• Instructions on getting to Grindelwald
• Instructions on using public transport for launches and retrieves
• Accommodations (shared space only for this trip, see below)
• Recommended XC tasks/flight plan based on the day's conditions
• Group flying
• Premium group-tracking software leveraging your existing instrumentation (e.g. FlySkyHy, Naviter, inReach, etc.)
• Briefings on weather, techniques, etc.
• Guidance and contacts on paragliding equipment services (reserve repack, line trim, repairs, etc.)
• Recommendation on non-paragliding activities in the area (especially if you bring a partner)
• Guidance and assistance by someone you can rely on, if you're in a pinch (such as emergency services)
• Trip leader fluent in English & Spanish

Total fee is $1,040 USD.

pilot experience required

Pilots must be non-beginners that don't need instruction in launching, thermaling, landing, and flying in mountain conditions. Pilots from all corners of the world are welcome to join the fun, with the ability to communicate in English or Spanish important.

pre-trip briefing

We'll hold an online pilot briefing a few weeks prior to the trip start date, where you'll meet the other pilots joining the adventure, we'll review geography using Google Earth, review waypoints, known landing areas, and any prohibited landing areas. We'll also review the live tracking technologies that we'll use on the trip, including all communications that we plan to leverage (Whatsapp, radio, GPS devices). This session ensures we're prepared and ready for the adventure that awaits us.

where we stay

We'll stay in the heart of Interlaken, at the Backpackers Villa. Backpackers Villa is an awesome place, very friendly, and will meet all our needs. To keep the costs somewhat manageable, we'll all share a room that overlooks the Jungfrau. If you prefer a private room, that can be accommodated.

how we'll get there

Get a flight to Geneva Airport (GVA) or Zürich Airport (ZRH), and then take the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) to Interlaken.
